Book Report
I read Crispin: The Cross of Lead, written by Avi. Crispin was a poor orphan who lived in Stromford , England in Medieval Times. The Lord Furnival who ruled the land where Crispin lived accused him of stealing his money. So he ran away. He wasn't caught but he made friends with a jester named Bear who taught him to play the recorder. They traveled to Great Wexly and went to a inn that was owned by Bear's friend. Later Bear was thrown in prison by John Acliffe and other people looking for Crispin. Crispin started looking for Bear and got him out of prison by asking John Acliffe to leave him alone and promising to give him his cross once they had passed the city gates. Instead they were trapped by soldiers. Bear used his dagger to fight and when John Acliffe was killed it surprised the soldiers and they slunk back and there was a clear path through the gates and Bear and Crispin escaped and was free.
