Trains!!!

Last week we went to Gilman, Illinois for the day. While we were there, my Dad took some photos of trains that were in Gilman that day.

The two photos below are of a Canadian National freight train going through Gilman.

This is a train made up of mostly potash (pronounced pot-ash) hoppers.
Potash is a salt containing water-soluble potassium.

This photo is of an old Illinois Central snowplow that looked like it had been just sitting for a while.

The next day, we were in Lincoln, Illinois, and my Dad took these pictures of the Amtrak Lincoln Service train.

And two hoppers coupled together.

Update

It's been a while since I've posted something. So very sorry about that. Honestly, I kinda forgot about my blog, but now I'm back! (I'll try to not forget this time). I now have a new background image and I really like it! It is a photo my Dad took of a Canadian National train while we were in Gilman, Illinois. It has been over 16 months since my last post and much has happened since then. We got a new dog, named Cash; here is a picture of him that my brother took.

We went to Des Moines, Iowa, for the day.

We also started remodeling our hall bath. This is the most recent photo.

We also went to Gilman, Illinois, for the day. (This is where my new background image was taken.)

And, today, we are going to the pool. (Insert smiley face Emoji).

My Head

Today I made a video about an injury on my head using an App called Splice.  I attempted to upload it to my Blog but it wasn't working, so I made it a guest post on my Mom's blog.
Go here to see it.

Summer Vacation

This summer we went to Libertyville, Illinois to see relatives and to go to Six Flags Great America.
The first evening we were there we had a fire in the backyard, and we had s'mores.

McCance, Cora, Matthew, and I getting the fire ready.

McCance and Cora tearing bark for kindling.

 McCance breaking shims for kindling.

 The wood starting to burn.

 Finally a beautiful fire.

 Mom watching the fire.

 Cora getting some chocolate.

 " Yummy s'more," says Cora.

Me--watching the fire.

Two days later Cora, Kathy, and Mom made cupcakes.

Cora adding sprinkles to the cupcakes.

Cora straightening the flags.

Jonathan teasing Cora.

On the 4th we walked to the nearby sports complex.

Some dry wildflowers near the trail.

This is part a part of the trail that goes through some trees.

The end of the tree tunnel.

McCance and I on the Metra track.

While we were there a train came so we took some photos.

At first we thought it was a freight train, but we realized it wasn't when it came closer.

It was a commuter train, the Metra.

And there's the end.

Our Pets

We have 2 cats and one dog.
Here are some pictures of them.

This is Cote when we first got her. (I think she is feisty.)
We adopted Cote after she was dumped at the dog shelter.

This was one of her favorite spots. Cote is pronounced /ko-tee/.
She is named after the author of the book in the picture.

She still does this when she comes in, but the cats stay on the screened-in porch most of the time.
She also likes to play outside and climb trees.

This is our other cat, Mr. Polacco. He is named after Patricia Polacco, a children's book author.
He likes to eat and counter surf, however my mom is not a fan of that sport.

 He sleeps a lot.

He also does this a lot.
Dad found him in our compost pile right before our big snow and we kept him.

 Cote has tiger markings everywhere.

Here are the cats on the bed together.

This is Ady.  Her full name is Adelaide.
She likes to play in the dog park in the park across the road.

This is Mr. Polacco on Cora's bed. Sometimes we call him Big Boy or Mr. P or Polacco.

This is Ady resting in her "pathetic mode."

And here is Cote Mischievous in the bouncy seat. She also has gotten in a skillet.

Ady is 11 years old, Polacco is 19 months old, and Cote is 14 months old.

Lego Mini City

I built a mini city. It is a model of a city smaller scale than Legos that fit mini-figures.   I got the idea for this from the Panorama, which is a mini New York city that took 100 people three years to make. (You can see it at the Queens Museum of Art.) It was fun to create because I had to figure out the scale and what to put in it.

This is the fire station.

This is the inside.

I used PicMonkey (It's a photo editor.) for the arrows and the labeled photos.
It is very easy to use and works well for blogs.
